I turned an ESP32-S3 into a Tailscale gateway with recovery functions
Hi, I’ve been working on ESP32 Tailnet Gateway, an open-source firmware that turns an ESP32-S3 into a small Tailscale/Headscale gateway
The main use case is connecting IoT devices that can’t run a VPN client to services on another network with a low cost device.
The idea is to have a small, independently powered device that can provide connectivity and help recover a NAS or PC when the main server is offline.
This is generally neat and preconfigured hardware instances is something you could probably sell.
Do you anticipate that the ESP32-S3 will have the headroom to support whatever post quantum constructions Tailscale will eventually adopt?
